Drama, Drama, Drama......

Who would have ever thought that Couponing would cause so much drama?? This new addiction has turned some peoples lives into real life soap operas. Social media has allowed anyone and everyone to be jerks (pardon my french) in online forums without hesitation. People have become braver confronting others with speaking their minds simply cause they know they will never meet face to face.

No, no one has confronted me, this is not why I am writing this. I observe a lot of other sites, pages and groups on facebook, and come to realize peoples "True" colors. Its sad really. Things that they may say in a comment or a post, they would never dream of saying to someone face to face. I find that I get a lot of people questioning "what are good ethics?". To me, it is all about common sense...if it seems wrong, feels wrong...its probably wrong. Don't do it! Popular bloggers out there are promoting poor ethics, making their behavior popular, thereby dragging innocent people through a dangerous course of cheating the system, and risking getting caught by store employees.....and they have no idea what they are doing is wrong....this to me is sickening.

Now...dare I comment on these blogs, pages or walls??? NO! Why the hell not? you may ask...well...I hate drama. One single comment that I make, can turn into days and days of bickering with someone I don't know, have never met, and have no interest in ever getting to know. People will utter threats of Lawyer action if such and such comments are not removed...Really??!! Seriously??!! We are talking about coupons, and when someone tries to correct someone elses misinformation...we have to go to court?? No thanks...I will let it be. Its really not worth my time or effort. All I want to do is help people, inform them of how to do things the right way, and teach them how to work WITH the system..not go around it.

People are using social media to let out their frustrations, and their inner most thoughts and feelings (such as I am doing now). But attacking any certain individual is cruel. Plastering their name all over the Internet should be shamed upon...but people love drama. I have heard of women bawling their eyes out because of an attack made upon them by a person they don't even know. How is this right? Its not...

People of all ages are so engrossed in the Internet and all it has to offer, which is great! To a point. The Internet is a great tool to gather information on millions of topics.....when it affects your self esteem, its time to stop and take a look at what is really important in life. What in the real world makes you happy? What would you do with your time if you had no Internet? (god forbid! lol)....

I dunno...If you wanna see peoples true colors just read their posts and how they are treating others. Personally, I just want to make friends, be happy, save a tonne of money doing it along the way.

I'm Back!!

Hello Everyone!

Well it certainly has been a while since I made a post, busy with family, and all that life has to offer I guess. But, now I am back to business :)

As most of you all know, I am the creator of the facebook group Canadian Coupons. It is a place to learn all about couponing, share your experiences, and deals that you are finding. The group has now grown to over 1400 members, from just 500 in August. Its is amazing. As a group we have participated in a number of RACKS (random acts of coupon kindness) where we send others envelopes of coupons "just because". It is so much fun, and feels so good to help others who are new or are in need. The biggest RACK that we did was just about a month ago. We had over 100 people send one member coupons & cards just because she needed a little pick me up. Boy oh Boy was she ever surprised :) Could you imagine getting 100 envelopes & cards in the mail from people you don't even know?? Love it!

Now with Christmas just over a month away, I am hosting another  Christmas Coupon Binder Giveaway on Facebook. The draw will be on December 1st. Go to the event page to enter for the draw. This is for a zippered, organized coupon binder that will be stuffed full of coupons that someone will be able to use for Christmas grocery shopping.

Money is tight for most at this time of year. For family and friends, I am trying to use my Couponing expertise to its fullest, and create gift baskets for the people that I care for. I plan to be making Caramel Corn, banana breads, and other tasty treats. I am finding soo many great ideas on Pinterest, this site is amazing! Its my new addiction.

My Inventory & Stockpile List for a Year

In order to stay organized, and to only purchase quantities that my family will use, I have created an inventory list, and estimates on quantities that I will use for one year. I will likely not be able to purchase all of this to include in my stockpile due to lack of coupons, lack of sales, and lack of space...but if a sale does come about and I know that I can stock up, I know by this list how much I need. Negative values represent stock overages in which will be donated, or used for gift baskets. How to "Stack" Coupons

Coupon Stacking is when you use more than one coupon for the same item. Only select stores will allow you to do this, so it is best to call your store and ask first, before you attempt it.

Requirements:
- Coupons that you are stacking MUST be for the same item. Size, brand, type etc.
- Coupons must have different coupon codes/bar codes in order to make them "different" from one another
- To get coupons that are different, but for the same item they must be from different sources. I.e. Magazines, newspapers, inserts, peelies, internet printed
- If the coupons states: "Strictly Prohibited"...you cannot stack them. These coupons (for now) are only on P&G that I have seen.
- Some stores will NOT allow you to stack coupons that state "Not valid with any other coupon offer"...check your store policy
- all coupons must be valid in Canada & not expired

Organizing your stacked coupons for a shopping trip:

- I will pull out a seperate binder, and put all the coupons I can stack in it.
- Then I will make my list. Make columns for what you are buying, quantity, shelf price, total coupon value you have to use, then a Total of what you actually expect to spend (before taxes)
- I divide my coupons into categories such as "Laundry", "Cleaning supplies", "Hygene", "Food" etc.
- When at the check-out, some stores would like you to place each set of stacked coupons with each item as it goes through.
- have your store coupon policy with you, and have a chat with customer service about their policy BEFORE you shop! Policys can change at any given moment, the policy that you may have is NO GUARANTEE.

Coupons to Stack:
- You can stack B1G1 with dollars off of one of them
- (1) "Save $2 wub2" with (2 or more) $1 wub1 coupons
- (2 or more)dollars off one product with different bar codes
- "save $5 when you buy 3 "brand" products, with dollars off
- There are really so many more combinations, just really look carefully at what your coupon says. For example, Buy ANY 3 GILLETTE PRODUCT: "ANY" can be sample/travel sizes, GILLETTE PRODUCT: can be for Venus (since Venus is a Gillette product)

To get the best "Bang for your Buck"
- Price Matching (if your store allows it) is one of the best ways to get the cheapest price. Collect all the store flyers in your area, & search for the items you are wanting to purchase at lower prices. Clearly mark with markers, tabs, or sticky notes on the flyer so it is easy to find when you are at the check-out. I also mark on my spreadsheet which flyer had the best price for each item.
- Stack your coupons on top of great sale prices.
- You can find out current store prices on line as well. www.flyerland.ca is a great resource. www.londondrugs.com has all the shelf prices on their website. I use this site often, since flyers only show you prices on a few of their store items.

I know that this sounds like a lot of work, but this is how to get items for free frequently. Be as organized as you can possibly be!!! so you have no surprises.
